Any great day begins with a baked good, and Sweetie Pies in Napa won't disappoint. I haven't tried anything there that wasn't out-of-this-world, yet wonderfully homey and comforting.
Next, head to Copia for a unique mix of wine, art and food. The gallery space, though small, usually has a great -- and intriguing -- exhibit, and definitely check out the "Forks in the Road" exhibit if only for the great food movie scenes. Copia also offers great take-out food for picnics later on -- as does Dean & Deluca in St. Helena.
If a burger is the only thing on your mind though, there's no better place than Taylor's Refresher in St. Helena -- and their milkshakes definitely deserve all their accolades. And just down the road is Michael Chiarello's Napa Style store, which is a great place to stock up (his Roasted Garlic Rub is a new pantry staple of mine). And don't forget to check out Keller's for an amazing collection of cheeses!
If you stay in St. Helena for dinner, I suggest a Charbay Blood Orange Cosmopolitan cocktail at Lounge 1351 before you go -- even the Sex in the City girls would be envious of this drink. Lastly, for dinner I suggest Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, which offers the best from Cindy Pawlcyn's impressive repertoire of home-style American dishes.
