The best pasta dish in the South Valley is tied with one in the North Valley.
We LOVE the trenne, a triangular penne, at Bistro Don Giovanni, served with braised lamb, artichokes and olives. But no less alluring is the "sugo di coniglio con pappardelle," a rich braised rabbit ragu, tossed with hedgehog, or wild, mushrooms, served with wide ribbon pasta at Tra Vigne in St. Helena.
There are nights after fish, after steaks, after ahi tuna burgers, that just cry out for a hearty plate of perfect pasta. These are them! Both restaurants also have exceptional wine lists so your wine pairing experience will be as memorable as your pasta. 96 points
